I was asked to be in a YouTube Challenge Video with a talented photographer-friend of mine, Lillian Reitz. She invited 2 other photographers and we all picked a location and had 5 minutes to shoot the same model in that location.
The point of the video is to 1. Challenge ourselves with unknown locations & ever-changing lighting 2. Show how vastly different the end results are from photographer-to-photographer with the same location, same model.
You can find the YouTube video below to see the other photographer’s photos but here are mine from each location! **The YouTube video only shows 1 photo per photographer, per location.
Location 1 (My Choice!): Hoover Hotel
I’ve always wanted to shoot a bride here. It’s very different and quirky so I think it will take a very specific bride to want to come and take photos here. It was an easier location for me. Not sure if it’s because I’ve been eyeing it for so long but the other 2 photographers found it challenging. Rightly so, there’s a U-Haul facility right across the street.
Location 2 (Lillian’s Choice): Bay front Park/Sea Wall
This one seemed like it would’ve been the easier location but I had some trouble here. The lighting was super harsh and I didn’t get to play with it as much as I would’ve liked to. I definitely wish i played with the sea wall more. I had the least photos I was happy with here.
Location 3 (Cora’s Choice): T-Heads by the Shrimp Boats
I’ve surprisingly never shot here before and it was probably my favorite place to shoot! The light was perfect when it came time for my turn to shoot Kenedy.
I’m really happy with the photos I was able to capture in such a short amount of time and I cant wait to do another challenge video! Until next time!
